Management Plan - D'Urville Island
In 2010, the Marlborough District Council commissioned a management plan for the control of wilding exotic trees on D’Urville Island. The island is recognised as having outstanding ecological values, given its possum and goat-free status, and the presence of unique vegetation on its Mineral Belt. The Plan concludes that the removal of wilding exotic trees, particularly wilding pines, is a realistic objective, with Priority A and B areas to be targeted. The Trust is now working collaboratively with the D’Urville Island Residents & Ratepayers Association to deliver this programme.
